Murray, Tim

British conductor Tim Murray is forging a path as a leading conductor in theatres and concert halls around the world, with a special interest in 20th and 21st-century repertoire. In 2015 he was appointed Associate Music Director of Cape Town Opera.

Murray has a long-standing partnership with the Royal Opera House, recently conducting the UK Stage Premiere of Gerald Barry’s virtuosic The Importance of Being Earnest with the Britten Sinfonia, to great critical acclaim. He has developed a close relationship with the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, having made his debut there in 2013 with Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. He returned to the Liceu in 2014 for a hugely successful run of Porgy and Bess, a piece with which he has a close association, having previously conducted it at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, London Coliseum and Artscape Theatre Cape Town, with the singers of Cape Town Opera.
